I've been neglecting my blog, so apologies are in order. In other news: I purchased a bed. I know in the normal scheme of things this isnt big news to most people, but Ive been home from Afghanistan for 15 months now, and finally got around to purchasing an item that most people cosider a neccessity. It would be easy for me to claim that being overseas made me realize some things just arent as important as they used to be, like the luxury of sleeping in a nice bed every night. Over there I slept in a tent, on a bed that was more like a cot than a bed actually. But the fact is, Im just a cheap bastard with my money, and neglecting buying the bed was just me being myself. So, it cost me 300 dollars for the mattress and box spring. Ill get a frame later. Ande 100 dollars for the bedding, pillow cases and sheets.
Along with my blog Ive also neglected my investments this month, only saving 300 dollars so far. Ill add to that Monday morning, but February is shaping up to be one of my worst saving months in quite awhile, something I already anticipated. I am way, way off my goal of saving 50% of my income so far this year, but at least statistically, I am way ahead of the average American.
The market has been heading up this year, as we all know. Utilities and Telecoms are lagging the market, so my portfolio is lagging also, but that doesnt concern me at all. I am happy to add to my holdings at cheaper prices. Im not investing for tomorrow, but for twenty years down the road, when I retire....I hope lol.
